Mira Costa College Student Services Center

This new Student Services building consolidated all student service functions which were scattered throughout the campus. The building entry featured angular/ directional decorative paving, in contrasting colors and served as a gateway element providing a sense of entry and place while directing visitors to their destination.

In addition, the building housed a comprehensive Veterans Center and a new transit center consolidating access to buses and transit on campus. LCI created design solutions for pedestrian hardscape, site amenities, planting, and irrigation. The design approach was consistent with the Mira Costa Community College District Design Standards.

This facility in Huntington Beach is an innovative training center that develops the learning and technical skills of both cadets and students by providing an environment that best balance quality enhancements of both building design and landscape.

LCI achieved this goal by creating a park scenario for passive recreation, biddle and grinder courses for physical training activities and memorial as a focal point next to the building’s main entry. A number of prominent trees were protected through strict construction and management procedures while applicable stormwater techniques such as Modular Wetland Biofiltration systems were considered for the project.
