Los Cerritos Town Center

Originally built in 1971, LCI has participated in several iterations of refresh, renovation, and expansion at the Los Cerritos Center over the last 17 years. LCI has inventoried all existing plant materials, determined those to be protected in place and worked with City of Cerritos staff on a long-term plan for tree replacement species. The Plant palette has transitioned as the Center was reimagined to welcome new tenants and shoppers. Extensive foundation planting and low impact drainage solutions in parking lots were site development components incorporated to be colorful, interesting, drought tolerant and water efficient. New site amenities, paving upgrades were included.

This facility in Huntington Beach is an innovative training center that develops the learning and technical skills of both cadets and students by providing an environment that best balance quality enhancements of both building design and landscape.

LCI achieved this goal by creating a park scenario for passive recreation, biddle and grinder courses for physical training activities and memorial as a focal point next to the building’s main entry. A number of prominent trees were protected through strict construction and management procedures while applicable stormwater techniques such as Modular Wetland Biofiltration systems were considered for the project.
