I-5 Genesee Avenue Overcrossing

This project replaced the existing six lane Genesee Avenue overpass with a ten-lane bridge to accommodate future traffic demands. Freeway access ramps, and an added auxiliary lane was added along with a new, separated bike path. By providing links to transportation, employment centers, hospitals and UC San Diego, the project improved the movement of people and good through the area.

Lynn Capouya, Inc., developed the landscape and irrigation plans, specifications and estimates for the highway improvements associated with this project with SanDAG/ Caltrans District 11. All plant materials were drought tolerant and selected to blend with the adjacent naturalized landscape aesthetics. Irrigation included SMART irrigations controllers and water conservation techniques.

This facility in Huntington Beach is an innovative training center that develops the learning and technical skills of both cadets and students by providing an environment that best balance quality enhancements of both building design and landscape.

LCI achieved this goal by creating a park scenario for passive recreation, biddle and grinder courses for physical training activities and memorial as a focal point next to the building’s main entry. A number of prominent trees were protected through strict construction and management procedures while applicable stormwater techniques such as Modular Wetland Biofiltration systems were considered for the project.
