In support of the LINXS team, LCI worked with the HDR/HNTB/DLR design firms and the Mayor’s Design Advisory Panel to develop a ‘Kit of Parts’ narrative/graphic approach for presentation to LAWA, City of Los Angeles Council District 11, City agencies and stakeholders for the Automated People Mover (APM) project. The vision transformed the passenger/pedestrian experience at LAX and the surrounding communities and created an aesthetic backbone for the Landscape Access Modernization Program (LAMP). Key topics addressed were iconic design, maintenance jurisdictions, plant materials, irrigation, stormwater management, site furnishings, pedestrian landscape lighting, and bicycle network. This framework enhanced the project visually and aesthetically and improved efficacy in function and reduced maintenance throughout the APM corridor.
Automated People Mover Landscape Master Plan at LAX
This facility in Huntington Beach is an innovative training center that develops the learning and technical skills of both cadets and students by providing an environment that best balance quality enhancements of both building design and landscape.
LCI achieved this goal by creating a park scenario for passive recreation, biddle and grinder courses for physical training activities and memorial as a focal point next to the building’s main entry. A number of prominent trees were protected through strict construction and management procedures while applicable stormwater techniques such as Modular Wetland Biofiltration systems were considered for the project.
