Congratulations to the County Supervisor Janice Hahn, County of Los Angeles, Departments of Public works, Parks and Recreation, & Sanitation District on the reopening of Adventure Park Stormwater Runoff Capture System on June 9, 2025. Lynn Capouya, Inc. was pleased to be the Landscape Architect on the Watearth Design team providing the Landscape components.

A New Water Story – Beneath Adventure Park, a 6.4-million-gallon underground runoff capture system diverts water from Sorenson Drain and sends it through the sanitary sewer to the Los Coyotes Water reclamation Plant, where it is recycled. Runoff that is not recycled is filtered on site and discharged back into Sorenson Drain. Above ground, the rain garden, decomposed granite paths, and drought-tolerant trees facilitate natural runoff and first flush mitigation throughout the park. Together, these features improve water quality, increase water supply, limit wear and tear on our water system and reduce flooding.
