LCI is working closely with the architect and the City of Irvine to develop the landscape and irrigation plans for the perimeter of the Orange County Great Park Administration Building along with its courtyards and plazas. The building will house the City of Irvine Community Service and Irvine Police Department teams.

The Administration Building and its plazas will be the newest addition to the Great Park’s master plan development, and will bring life and vitality to the Great Park. The plazas will contribute substantially to the outdoor experience through a variety of programmed spaces for multi-generational needs ranging from large plazas to intimate courtyards.

LCI’s landscape design concept draws inspiration from California’s “Super Bloom” incorporating colors and patterns while blending harmoniously within the landscape.

Surrounded with lush landscaping, the Pre-function Outdoor Area is located adjacent to the Pre-function Gallery, which allows for a reception style event area. A specimen tree with hanging lanterns adds to the courtyard’s whimsical and appealing charm. The Activity Area includes spaces for table tennis, bocce ball and cornhole while the outdoor Living Room includes a lounge-style seating, fire pit, armchairs, couches and low coffee tables. Paper airplane-shaped type of shade structure soars above these spaces to provide comfort during the hot months serving as another striking focal point and pays homage to the Park’s history while an amphitheater type of seating with views of the open fields including the Orange Balloon is visible from this area. The Sensory Garden is a therapeutic, stress reducing, relaxing space surrounded by a collection of plant materials with different textures, shapes, colors and scents to stimulate one’s senses while the Interior Courtyard creates a seamless transition between the public and private, interior and exterior spaces of the building.

Construction of the new Administration Building is expected in the second quarter of 2020.
