Crenshaw LAX Corridor
Los Angeles, CA
The Crenshaw/LAX Line is an under construction mass-transit light rail line project. The line will travel 8.5 miles to the Metro Green Line and will serve the cities of Los Angles, Inglewood and El Segundo; and portions of unincorporated Los Angeles County. The line will run generally north-south and will connect the Crenshaw District and Leimert Park to Inglewood and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The line will be a part of the Los Angeles County Metro Rail System.
LCI was selected by the design/build team to provide landscape architectural design for five of the designated transit stations: Century/Aviation; Florence/Hindry; Florence/La Brea; Florence/West; and Crenshaw/Slauson. In addition, LCI is providing landscape design for the five TPSS facilities and streetscape from Aviation Boulevard to Vernon Avenue, 7.1 miles of the 8.5-mile corridor.
Key issues included incorporation/maintenance of existing trees, coordination with evolving Master Plan in development by the City of Los Angeles, compressed schedule and coordination to meet construction requirements to ensure availability and consistency of quantities of selected trees.
